Sold to the Ruthless Tycoon

The subterranean vault beneath Marco Vitelli's private club in Lower Manhattan smelled of stale tobacco, spilled vintage cognac, and the suffocating stench of unchecked human depravity.

Lila Sinclair stood behind a heavy black velvet curtain backstage, her wrists bound loosely with silk cord—because even illicit underground auctions had their grotesque aesthetic standards—and tried to remember how to breathe.

Twenty-four hours ago, she had been in her small Brooklyn loft, painting. Acrylics and charcoal on raw canvas, a half-finished crimson sunset she was preparing for her senior thesis exhibition. Then her father had stumbled in—Richard Sinclair, degenerate gambler, chronic debtor, and lifelong disappointment—flanked by two armed enforcers in tailored charcoal suits, smelling of sour bourbon and desperation.

"I'm sorry, baby girl," Richard had sobbed, unable to meet her eyes. "Vitelli called in the loan. I had no choice."

"You always have a choice, Dad," Lila had replied, her voice cold as winter granite. "You just always choose to destroy everyone around you."

The enforcers had taken her. Not with crude violence, but with terrifying, clinical politeness. They had driven her through the rainy city, forced her into an exquisite white silk slip dress that felt like an executioner's shroud, and explained her reality: her father had accumulated a $2.3 million debt at Vitelli's underground high-stakes baccarat tables. Vitelli had offered an ultimatum—Richard's life, or his daughter sold at the annual private VIP auction to clear the ledger.
