Synopsis

Enemies to Lovers Alpha King Fated Mates High Heat werewolf-romance healer-heroine Dire Wolf Arctic Romance Pack Politics

When a deadly synthetic wolfsbane poison strikes the sovereign dire wolves of the Lyngen Alps, Dr. Freya Lindqvist—an outcast hybrid herbal toxicologist—is abducted into the frozen mountain fortress of Skuggheim by Blood Alpha King Torin Ironfang. To save his dying pack, Torin demands her medical genius, but Freya refuses to be any warlord's obedient thrall. In the sub-zero chill of the Arctic Circle, scientific defiance sparks into scorching, primal passion as an ancient mate bond awakens beneath the crimson Blood Moon. But when shadowy corporate mercenaries and rogue traitors conspire to eradicate the wolves for the rare minerals beneath their mountains, King and Queen must unite heart, blade, and science to protect the sacred heart of the North.

Chapter 1

The Frostwood Raid

The northern reaches of the Scandinavian Arctic were a realm of primeval silence, jagged black peaks, and merciless winter frost.

Sixty miles north of the coastal city of Tromsø, where the boreal pine forests gave way to barren tundra and sheer glacial fjords, the Frostwood valley was regarded as a lawless borderland between human settlements and the ancient werewolf clans.

Here, in a sturdy cabin constructed from heavy hand-hewn Scots pine and insulated with thick reindeer moss, Dr. Freya Lindqvist had made her life.

At twenty-four, Freya was an extraordinary anomaly in both the human and lycanthrope worlds.

Her father had been an outcast wolf from a southern pack who had loved a human woman, leaving Freya with the heightened senses, rapid cellular healing, and intuition of the wolves, but without the ability to shift into a full beast.

Gifted with a photographic memory and an innate understanding of natural toxins, Freya had completed her doctorate in ethnobotany and pharmacological toxicology at the University of Oslo before returning to the wilderness where she was born.
