Synopsis

High Heat Billionaire Romance Swiss Banker Reclusive Titan Forensic Auditor Alpine Fortress

When an anomalous transfer drains one hundred and twenty million euros from Bankhaus von Berg using an antique horological cipher, Dr. Genevieve Delacroix—Europe's most brilliant forensic auditor—is summoned directly to the subterranean vault of Zurich's most feared financial titan: Alexander 'The Iron Wolf' von Berg. Convinced her missing watchmaker uncle was framed by an international cartel, Gemma is bound by an ironclad one-year executive retainer that confines her to Alexander's hyper-modern mountain fortress in St. Moritz. Trapped together in forced proximity above the snowline, an intellectual duel between the cold, guarded billionaire and the fearless auditor quickly ignites into an all-consuming, dangerous passion. Amidst snipers in the blizzards, high-society gala infiltration on Lake Geneva, and a lethal cartel conspiracy that claimed Alexander's brother five years ago, Alexander discovers that Gemma is the only light capable of melting his frozen soul—and he will tear down the world to make her his queen.

Chapter 1

The Vault of Paradeplatz

The freezing November sleet lashed against the towering neo-classical limestone facades of Zurich's Paradeplatz with relentless, biting fury, turning the pristine tram tracks along the Bahnhofstrasse into dark ribbons of polished obsidian.

Inside the subterranean security vestibule of Bankhaus von Berg—the most private, exclusive, and impenetrable private banking institution in the Swiss Confederation—the air was hermetically sealed, dead silent, and cold enough to raise goosebumps through Genevieve Delacroix's charcoal cashmere coat.

At twenty-four, Genevieve was regarded within the elite financial circles of Geneva and London as an auditing savant. Her razor-sharp photographic intellect, combined with her uncanny mastery of forensic horology and high-yield algorithmic laundering, had earned her an unassailable reputation as an untouchable truth-teller. She did not flatter oligarchs, she did not doctor ledgers for corrupt ministries, and she certainly did not tremble before private billionaires.

Yet as the four-ton vault door hissed open on oiled pneumatic pistons, revealing the private executive basement where three centuries of European sovereign gold and encrypted quantum server nodes were housed, Gemma felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

Two armed private security operatives in crisp charcoal tactical suits and earpieces flanked her, their suppressed sidearms holstered beneath tailored jackets. They escorted her past bulletproof glass partitions and climate-controlled display cases containing antique pocket watches dating back to Breguet, Ferdinand Berthoud, and Patek Philippe, straight into the inner sanctuary.

Standing behind an expansive slab of matte black Alpine slate and brushed titanium was Alexander von Berg.
