Chapter 5
Sins of the Flesh
Blood and Roses · Alessia DeLuca & Production Syndicate · 6 min read
The following evening, the five ruling families of the New York Commission convened at a private banquet hall atop the Rockefeller Center for the quarterly syndicate summit.
Isabella stood beside Alessandro at the head table, wearing a custom floor-length crimson gown of heavy silk crepe with a sweetheart neckline and long, fitted sleeves. Diamond teardrop earrings cascaded to her shoulders, catching the golden glow of the chandeliers. Beside her, Alessandro was the picture of supreme, lethal elegance in a midnight-black tuxedo, a red silk pocket square matching her gown.
Throughout the three-hour dinner, the tension in the room was suffocating. Capos from rival families stared openly at Isabella, whispering among themselves about the Romano princess who had become the Viti Capo’s prized hostage. Uncle Sergio sat across the grand room, his face dark with covert hostility, surrounded by his personal goons.
Yet every time a rival capo dared look at Isabella with disrespect or insolence, Alessandro’s hand would rest casually on the back of her chair, his cold, lethal steel-blue gaze cutting across the room with such terrifying promise that men twice his age quickly averted their eyes. He treated her not like a captive, but like an empress crowned in blood.
When the summit concluded and the armored Maybach returned to the Westchester villa shortly after midnight, the silence between them was charged with pure, combustible tension.
They rode the private elevator up to the top floor in total silence. The moment the elevator doors slid open into the master penthouse, Alessandro kicked the doors shut behind them.
He loosened his silk tie, pulling it from his collar and tossing it onto a console table. His steel-blue eyes tracked Isabella as she walked over to the floor-to-ceiling glass wall, looking out at the glittering lights of Manhattan far in the distance.
"You handled yourself with extraordinary grace tonight, Isabella," Alessandro said, his deep baritone rolling through the dimly lit room. "Every capo in that room was terrified of you. They realized that the Romano family hasn't been conquered. It has found a queen."
Isabella turned around slowly. The moonlight from the Hudson washed over her crimson gown, illuminating the fiery determination in her hazel eyes.
"I didn't care about their fear, Alessandro," she said softly, her voice steady and clear. "I only cared about one man in that room."
Alessandro stilled, his hand pausing on the buttons of his vest. "And who was that?"
Isabella walked toward him with slow, deliberate grace, her heels whispering against the dark hardwood floor. She stopped right in front of him, looking up into his sculpted bronze face.
She reached out, her slender fingers undoing the silver buttons of his waistcoat, parting the fabric. Then, one by one, she unbuttoned his crisp white dress shirt, sliding the material off his broad, powerful shoulders until it fell to the floor, leaving his muscular chest bare.
His upper torso was magnificent—chiseled stone and corded sinew, crisscrossed with faint battle scars that spoke of a dozen lethal confrontations, and an intricate black ink tattoo of a raven spreading its wings across his broad chest.
Isabella laid her flat palms against his burning skin, feeling the heavy, thunderous hammer of his heartbeat beneath her fingers.
"You said last night that when you took me, it would be in your bed. In the light. With my heart fully surrendered," Isabella whispered, her hazel eyes glistening with raw, uninhibited desire. "I am here, Alessandro. My heart is yours. Stop fighting what was meant to be."
Alessandro’s breath hissed between his teeth. The last barrier of his legendary control shattered into dust.
With a low, possessive roar of pure male hunger, Alessandro wrapped his powerful arms around her waist, lifting her off her feet. He crushed his mouth down onto hers, carrying her across the vast room and lowering her gently onto the massive king-sized bed draped in crisp black Egyptian cotton sheets.
He hovered over her, his heavy muscular frame radiating unbearable heat. His hands found the zipper at the back of her crimson gown, sliding it down with agonizing slowness. He peeled the heavy silk from her body, tossing it aside until Isabella lay before him clad only in delicate scarlet lace.
Alessandro’s steel-blue eyes raked over every inch of her curves, his breath ragged with reverent awe.
"Sei la mia rovina, Isabella," he rumbled in Italian, his voice thick with worship. "You are my ruin, my salvation, my only god."
He leaned down, burying his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her intoxicating fragrance of jasmine and wild honey. His lips scorched a trail of burning kisses down her throat, over her collarbone, down to the trembling crest of her breast. Isabella arched her back with a breathless gasp, her fingers clutching his thick raven hair as his mouth closed over her lace-covered nipple, suckling with sweet, demanding rhythm through the sheer fabric.
Electrifying heat pooled between her thighs. Isabella whimpered, her hips moving instinctively against his thigh, craving friction, craving his touch.
Alessandro stripped away the lace with trembling, desperate hands. When she lay completely bare beneath him, he stepped out of his trousers and dropped between her parted thighs.
His body was towering, magnificent, his erection thick, heavy, and pulsing with untamed desire.
He leaned down, pressing slow, lingering kisses to her lips, her chin, her eyelids, gentling her racing pulse even as his own body strained with desperate need.
"Look at me, Isabella," he whispered, his forehead resting against hers, his eyes burning like molten steel. "Tell me you are ready."
"I have been ready since the moment you caught me on that terrace," she sobbed softly, wrapping her legs around his muscular hips, pulling him down until his hardness pressed against her wet, burning heat. "Love me, Alessandro. Claim me."
With a ragged groan that sounded torn from his soul, Alessandro pushed forward, sliding slowly and deeply into her tight, molten depths.
Isabella gasped, her back arching off the mattress as the sheer size and intensity of him filled her completely. Tears of overwhelming, shattering perfection slipped from her eyes. She felt stretched, claimed, remade in the fire of his touch.
Alessandro froze, kissing the tears from her cheeks with heartbreaking tenderness. "Did I hurt you, my rose?"
"No," she breathed, her nails digging into the corded muscles of his back as she lifted her hips, taking him to the absolute hilt. "You feel... like home. Move, Alessandro. Please."
Alessandro began to move.
Slowly at first, long, deep, devastating strokes that sent shockwaves of liquid pleasure rippling through every nerve in her pelvis. Isabella clung to him, matching his rhythm, crying out in Italian as the friction built into an all-consuming tempest.
Outside, the Hudson River flowed silently under the moonlight, but inside the master suite, there was only the sound of their ragged breathing, the slap of skin against skin, and the desperate, sacred whispers of two souls uniting across seventy years of blood and hatred.
Alessandro’s thrusts grew harder, faster, more possessive. He reached down between their bodies, his calloused thumb finding the swollen bundle of nerves at her center, rubbing in small, rhythmic circles that drove Isabella straight over the edge.
"Alessandro! Ah... Alessandro!" she screamed, her body locking around him in powerful, pulsing spasms of pure, unadulterated ecstasy.
Her climax shattered Alessandro’s final restraint. He let out a primal, guttural roar, thrusting three more times with bone-deep, devastating power before spilling his hot, heavy seed deep inside her. He buried his face in her neck, trembling from head to toe with the force of his release, groaning her name over and over like a sacred litany.
For a long time, neither moved.
Alessandro shifted his weight, pulling Isabella flush against his broad chest, tucking the heavy duvet over their glistening, intertwined bodies. His fingers stroked her damp auburn curls, pressing tender kisses to her forehead and shoulders.
"You are my wife now, Isabella," Alessandro murmured into the dark room, his steel-blue eyes shining with an eternal, unshakeable devotion. "In blood, in flesh, and in soul. No one will ever take you from me."
Isabella rested her cheek over his steady, powerful heartbeat, a profound, unbreakable peace settling into her soul.
"I am yours, Alessandro," she whispered back, closing her eyes as sleep claimed them in each other's arms.
