Synopsis

Enemies to Lovers Arranged Marriage Forensic Investigator Mafia Romance Sicilian Don High Heat 18+ Taormina Fortress Mount Etna Ambush

Sent on an undercover audit to investigate suspicious shipping ledgers at the palatial Sicilian villa of the notorious Moretti dynasty, elite forensic financial investigator Dr. Lucia Bellini is captured by Don Dante 'Il Falco' Moretti—the ruthless, brooding Capo dei Capi who rules Sicily with an iron fist. But Dante reveals a truth that shatters her world: her murdered father, heroic Judge Vittorio Bellini, was Dante's secret ally in a deadly war against Salvatore Greco and a corrupt federal magistrate in Rome. Bound by an ancient blood compact, Lucia and Dante unite their minds, steel, and hearts to destroy a corrupt empire and forge an everlasting sovereign love.

Chapter 1

The Audit of Palermo

The humid, salt-tinged night air of the Port of Palermo hung heavy over the Tyrrhenian Sea, smelling of deep-sea brine, diesel exhaust, crushed lemons, and blooming Mediterranean night jasmine.

From the fifth-floor mezzanine office of the Moretti Maritime Logistics terminal, Dr. Lucia Bellini stood in the shadows, looking down upon the vast, brightly illuminated expanse of the commercial harbor. Colossal gantry cranes painted in industrial yellow moved shipping containers with mechanical precision against the black horizon, their hydraulic joints groaning under hundred-ton loads of Sicilian citrus, cold-pressed olive oil, volcanic sulfur, and polished Carrara marble bound for Rotterdam, New York, and Shanghai.

To the outside world and the financial pages of *Il Sole 24 Ore*, Moretti SpA was the undisputed crown jewel of southern Italian commercial logistics—a multi-billion-euro maritime empire that employed over twenty thousand Sicilian dockworkers, merchant sailors, logistics technicians, and marine engineers.

To the Guardia di Finanza in Rome and Interpol’s anti-corruption task force, it was the sovereign, impenetrable territory of Don Dante Moretti.

Known throughout the Italian underworld, the gilded salons of Roman politics, and the luxury harbors of Monaco as *Il Falco*—The Falcon—Dante Moretti was thirty-three years old, possessing an international reputation for terrifying, razor-sharp intellect, absolute territorial dominance, and ruthless efficiency. In an era where rival mafia clans tore each other apart in messy, blood-soaked street skirmishes, Moretti had modernized the Cosa Nostra into an elite corporate conglomerate, replacing sawn-off shotguns with offshore sovereign trust funds, private satellite networks, and maritime admiralty law.

Lucia tightened the belt of her tailored charcoal wool trench coat, her pulse drumming a quiet, rapid rhythm against her ribs.
